Palermo is the name of my new area here in Salta Capital, and I'm loving every day. I have learned a lot here already, from my great companions Elder Braegger y Elder Pedro and from our amazing friends we are teaching.
One of these families is the Familia Gomez, and the other I'll talk about next week. The familia Gomez has taught me a lot about why Christ always teaches us to 'become as a little child.' This family, all of this family, is always excited to learn more about the teachings of Christ and to apply them into their lives. In these few weeks of teaching them they have learned, felt, and come to know so much about the truths of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. And today, they are following the example of the Savior, to be baptized and follow Him. And they know that this is a path of a lifetime, and they are so excited and willing to follow Him on this journey.
Matthew 18:
1 At the same time came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?
2 And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them,
3 And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.
4 Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
3 Nefi 11:
37 And again I say unto you, ye must repent, and become as a little child, and be baptized in my name, or ye can in nowise receive these things.
38 And again I say unto you, ye must repent, and be baptized in my name, and become as a little child, or ye can in nowise inherit the kingdom of God.
Like the loving Father he is, our Father in Heaven has so much love for us, as well as expectations. He sent His son to show the way and to help us achieve these expectations that otherwise we could not.
John3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
As we come to see this love that He has for us, each one of us, that He has given us in numerous ways, but most of all, in the gift of His son, we will have the desire to apply this redeeming love in our lives. As we do so humbly and follow the example of His son in our lives, we will continue to become more like Him. Our desire to share this love with others will also increase as we try daily to become more like Him.
Love you, Elder Shepherd
If you got to this point, here's some questions to take with you this week:
¿What's one way I can humble myself this week, be more excited to become like Christ?
And as I do so...
¿Who will I share His love with this week?
¿How can I share this love and support them in this journey?
*Encourage
* 'Elp (Help)
*Example
*Express
*Explain Why & How (we can follow this path)
